DEICIDE's JACK OWEN: 'We Will Finish The Tour, With Or Without GLEN BENTON'

January 15, 2007

Floridian death metallers DEICIDE are currently touring Europe without vocalist/bassist Glen Benton, who was forced to stay home due to what is believed to be a pressing legal matter regarding domestic issues. The band's guitarist, Jack Owen (ADRIFT, ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) has sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Man, I love death metal. I gotta tell you, the fans have been so great, so supportive on this tour. Barely anyone has refused to enter the venue despite signs out front every night informing them that Glen Benton is not with us on the tour. These aren't just people with tickets that would have to go all the way back home, these are fans walking up and buying tickets after reading the posted signs! These fans have really shown why death metal fans are the most dedicated of all music fans. They give us the incentive to go on with the tour. It's been a smashing success! Venues are over capacity! All this has really invigorated my love for death metal.

"I've always loved death metal, and it's always been in my heart. But to get the support we have, during such a pressure-filled tour is just amazing. We, as a band, would like to thank them publicly. If the venues were empty, it would be a no-brainer to pack it up and go home. All parties involved would lose their asses. But, from the jaws of defeat, we have snatched victory! The band is drunk with power (and Jägermeister) as we await the next challenge: three Spanish shows, booked with a week's notice. And it looks like we will finish the tour, with or without Glen Benton.

"I can't speculate on wether Glen will come over or not! It's day-to-day at this point, as his legal battles regarding domestic issues continue at home...

"After this tour, my band ADRIFT (MySpace page) will continue writing, recording, and playing shows in the southeast U.S. Our current lineup is strong, and it is thoroughly enjoyable for me to throw the seven-string guitar on, and jam some down-tuned, aggressive, dynamic rock! Cheers to the fans who compliment me about ADRIFT on a nightly basis!

"As for DEICIDE, we have some shows tentatively booked in March in Mexico and Central America.

"Thank you again for coming out and supporting us, as Garbaty from DISSENTER belts out bass and vocals for us, Jason [Peppiatt] from PSYCROPTIC and Martin [Pedersen] from VISCERAL BLEEDING help out on a couple tunes, and my apologies for my incredibly bad black metal vocals on the songs I have sang lead on!"

As previously reported, Seth van Loo (SEVERE TORTURE, NOX, CENTURION) handled the vocal duties for the first four dates of DEICIDE's European tour. A video clip of Seth singing "Sacrifical Suicide" with DEICIDE on January 6 in Nijmegen, Holland has been posted online at YouTube.com.
